Walter DeKeseredy Criminology, Justice, and Policy Studies-University of Ontario Institute of Technology

Dr. Walter S. DeKeseredy (Ph.D. York University, 1988) is Professor of Criminology, Justice, and Policy Studies at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. His research focuses on woman abuse, crime in public housing, and criminological theory. His recent books include Advancing Critical Criminology: Theory and Application, co-edited with Barbara Perry (Lexington Books 2006), and Under Siege: Poverty and Crime in a Public Housing Community, co-authored with Martin Schwartz, Shahid Alvi, and E. Andreas Tomaszewski (Lexington Books 2006). In 2004, he was co-recipient, with Martin Schwartz, of The Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Society of Criminology's Division on Women and Crime. Currently, he is working on papers based on a 2007 representative sample survey of Canadian campus hate crime that he conducted with Barbara Perry.
