Andrew Grant-Thomas (Ph.D. University of Chicago, 2000) is Deputy Director of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. His work focuses on policy-oriented research on a range of topics, including the nature of structural racism, immigrant-African American alliance formation, the contexts of African American male lives, and talking about race and ethnicity in constructive and unifying ways. He is also an Associate Editor for Race/Ethnicity: Multidisciplinary Global Contexts, a journal published in collaboration with the Office of Minority Affairs at Ohio State University. Previously, he was a senior research associate at the Civil Rights Project at Harvard University.
