- Sex Offender Treatment: Does it Work?
- Investigator:
- Stacey Saunders (Social Work)
- Abstract:
- As the population of adult sexual offenders continues to grow, research to inform practice and policy about effective treatment interventions is necessary. This research seeks to identify which treatment programs are most effective in reducing recidivism for male and female sexual offenders. Also, this research hopes to identify conditions of this treatment and under what circumstances these programs are effective. Through use of a systematic review and meta-analysis methodology, this project will contribute to the existing body of empirical literature in this area via the inclusion of female sexual offenders, the expansion of the existing meta-analysis to include all studies located in the systematic review, and through use of HLM to draw additional conclusions about intervention efficacy and study, treatment, and population characteristics that impact these conclusions.
