Robert Duran participated in the RDCJN's Summer Research Institute in 2007 and 2011. His 2011 project was "Gang Life in Two Cities: An Insider's Journey to Understand the Social World of Gangs," and his 2007 was "The Core Ideals of the Mexican American Gang: Living the Presentation of Defiance."
