Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Ohio Department of Transportation 1980 West Broad Street, Auditorium Columbus, Ohio 43223

This free one-day conference will feature a morning dedicated to legal aspects of being convicted of a sex offense for an individual with an Intellectual Disability in the state of Ohio. There will be a review and updates to sex offender laws, and a review of the placement and treatment process within Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections facilities. The morning will wrap up with a discussion of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections collaboration with County Boards of Developmental Disabilities to do release planning, and the role of community control (Probation and Parole) for individuals who have Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and are adjudicated sex offenders.

The afternoon will focus the Individual Service Planning for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities who engage in sex offending behaviors. We will look at the impact of the DODD Sex Offender Protocol and the DODD Behavior Support Rule on service planning for individuals involved in the criminal justice system. We will also examine the impact of these on service planning for individuals with ID who engage in sex offending behaviors but are not involved in the criminal justice system.
