Osei Appiah (Ph.D. Stanford University, 1998) is a Professor of Communication. His research explores the ways in which ethnic minority consumers use and are affected by the media and media messages, including those that relate to perceptions of safety and criminal victimization. A major focus of this work is to uncover the most effective ways to get ethnic minorities to attend to and act upon messages from traditional and new media.
