Judson L. Jeffries is Professor of African American and African Studies at The Ohio State University. He earned his PhD in political science at the University of Southern California and his master's degree in public policy at SUNY-Binghamton in upstate New York. As an undergraduate he attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Jeffries has published widely on the matter of police community relations with special emphasis on police use of excessive force against unarmed Blacks. Before coming to OSU in 2006, he was an associate professor of political science with an appointment in homeland security studies at Purdue University, an academic unit which he helped build. Dr. Jeffries is editor-in-chief of two academic journals, the Journal of African American Studies and Spectrum: A Journal on Black Men.
