Steven Lopez (Ph.D., UC Berkeley 2000) is an associate professor in the department of sociology.
As a sociologist of work, he has studied and written about many aspects of work and employment, including trade union organizing; nursing home work; auto manufacturing; bullying and other forms of workplace incivilities; downward mobility and job searching among displaced workers; and the relationship between employment and recidivism among the formerly incarcerated.
His current research examines how experiences of legal and legal work are intertwined in the lives of formerly incarcerated men.
