Deanna L. Wilkinson (Ph.D. Rutgers University, 1998) is Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science. Her primary research interests are adolescent development, risk and problem behaviors, youth violence, firearm use, prevention, event perspectives, community-police partnerships, program evaluation, and urban communities. She is the Principal Investigator on “Event Dynamics and the Role of Third Parties in Youth Violence” funded by the National Institute of Justice. In addition to her work at OSU, she is actively involved in several local initiatives to reduce youth violence and improve neighborhood safety. Wilkinson is the author of Guns, Violence, and Identity among African American and Latino Youth, published by LFB Scholarly Publishing (2003).
