Laura DeMarco, graduate student in the Department of Sociology, has won a National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant to support her research, entitled “Criminal Records and Housing Discrimination: An Audit Study.” DeMarco, along with advisor Ryan King, is seeking to identify the prevalence and scope of criminal records use to disqualify applicants at an early stage of the housing application process.
